Snowbee Spectre® Switch Rod

Snowbee

Delivery 5-7 working days

Following the success of the Spectre® Fly rod range in 2017, it was inevitable that there would be a Switch range. These rods share the same pedigree as the previous models, but with new lighter, crisper blanks for even better casting performance.

The 10'6" #7 is a great rod ideally suited to smaller rivers, as well as on still waters. A crisp responsive action allows effortless casting distance and accuracy. The 5-piece blanks make this rod easily portable. Works perfectly with the short head 350-grain Snowbee Switch line or the 20g Scandinavian Spey, providing a full range of fishing styles in all conditions. Perfect for salmon, trout and sea trout.

The 11' #8 is the bigger brother of the #7 rod. Designed for medium to larger rivers and bigger target fish and flies, where a step-up in line weight is required and allows extra distance even in a stiff breeze. An ideal rod for sea trout and salmon, particularly in heavily tree-lined areas, where the use of longer traditional Spey rods would be difficult. Works perfectly with our 400grain Switch line, or the 24g Scandinavian Spey line, where the slightly longer heads offer more versatility.

  • Portuguese cork handles.

RHW + EH / Reverse Half Wells plus extension handle Usually on longer (over 9’6”) light line rods. Extension handle (sometimes known as a fighting butt) balances the rod and offers comfort when playing fish

FW+EH / Full Wells plus extension handle Extension handle (sometimes known as a fighting butt) balances the rod and offers comfort when playing fish. On Saltwater rods the fighting butt is larger.

TPSF / Two Part Shaped Fly Used on double handed salmon rods, the longer handles provide leverage when Speycasting. ‘Traditional’ style handles are longer to suit upper hand dominant casting styles. ‘Scandinavian’ style handles are designed to assist an underhand shorter stroke style of casting.

Not Spey and Not Tenkara

This rod is neither a tenkara rod or a spey rod. It’s too big and clunky to cast tenkara style for trout in the headwaters and it doesn’t have a reel so it can’t shoot line for spey fishing. False advertising from the manufacturer who clearly knows nothing about both Tenkara or Spey fishing. Bummer.

I took this fishing rod (9' #10)for a two week trip to the Kola Peninsula in the hunt for salmon. She gave me the fight of my life! Rod minimizes the attempts of the salmon to escape, but I still lost her. Great fishing rod!!!

Awesome choice for bonefish

I used this reel for bonefish and it worked great. It is super light and easy to use on the flats.

Love it!

This is an absolutely awesome fly reel! It's build like a tank and will last several lifetimes. It looks stunning on bamboo rods, but while a bit heavier than the modern aluminum counterparts, it balances nicely during casting. The line included with the reel is a high quality Scientific Anglers Mastery line in the weight of your choice. If you've got a few extra bucks to invest in a fine reel, this is the one!

Pretty much bullet proof

I have owned my 811 for about 4 years now and have put it through the mill. I am not the most graceful of people, I have dropped it on several occasions, smacked it up against rocks, even dropped my rod in the river as it rolled down the current and ended on the bottom of a deep pool. We fished it out and it wasn't even dented! Love this reel!
